Built using locally sourced materials like treated bamboo or simple steel pipes, relying on natural airflow through insect-proof mesh windows. Setup costs generally range from BDT 400 to BDT 600 per square meter. ​Medium to High-Tech Polyhouses: Features structural steel framing, exhaust fans, cooling pads, and automated drip irrigation. These systems offer precise temperature and humidity control but require a much higher capital investment, often ranging from BDT 1,000 to BDT 3,000+ per square meter. ​Best Suited Crops ​High-Value Vegetables: Capsicum (bell peppers), cherry tomatoes, seedless cucumbers, broccoli, and red/yellow cabbages. ​Floriculture: High-demand commercial flowers such as Gerbera, Roses, Carnations, and Orchids, which thrive under controlled light and humidity. ​Nursery & Seedlings: Raising healthy, disease-free vegetable and fruit saplings for commercial distribution. ​Government Initiatives & Support ​To modernize the agricultural sector, the Ministry of Agriculture—often working through the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE)—frequently introduces developmental projects providing financial assistance, training, and subsidies for setting up modern "polynet houses" to encourage marginal and commercial agri-entrepreneurs alike.
